HAND
(Helping After Neonatal Death) was founded in 1981 to help parents,
their families, and their healthcare providers cope with the
loss of a baby before, during, or after birth (through the first
year of life). All services are free and include support groups
for newly bereaved parents and for parents pregnant again after
having had a loss, 24-hour telephone support, hospital visitation,
lending libraries, information and referral services throughout
Northern California and the Central Valley. All services are

PediatriCare provides ongoing
support groups and counseling for families coping with illness,
grief, or loss within the family (such as the severe illness
or death of a parent or child). Groups for both children and
parents. Groups meet weekday evenings in Oakland and Walnut Creek.
